St John's Evangelical Lutheran

Extracurriculars

St. John’s Lutheran School & Preschool provides students with many extracurricular activities and opportunities. From school field trips to Yearbook Club to music programs such as choir, band, and handbells, there are many ways for students to become involved and enrich and broaden their educational experience.

Field Trips

Students of all ages are provided opportunities throughout the year for field trips. These may tie directly to the curriculum, provide additional educational experiences, or be service-focused. Destinations include a local pumpkin patch, museums and theatres in the Minneapolis area, Lutheran outdoor education camps, and Washington, D.C.

Music Programs

Choir

Choir is a wonderful way for all students to enjoy music! They sing at the Christmas concert, in the spring musical, and at the closing service at the end of the school year. Kindergarten-8th grade students also sing during numerous Sunday worship services at St. John’s Lutheran Church throughout the school year.

Band

An optional band program is offered during the school day for students in 4th-8th grade. The band performs two concerts during the year – one at Christmas and the other at the end of the school year.

Handbells

Students in 7th and 8th grades are invited to audition to participate in a small handbell ensemble.

Clubs

Yearbook Club

Students create and publish St. John's annual yearbook while learning about photography and graphic design.

Robotics

Students use Lego SPIKE™ kits to explore engineering and coding.

Student Council

Students hold elections each year, and those elected serve and lead the school body, organizing fun events and making chosen improvements to the student experience at St. John's.
